Activities in Guatemala
In such a rich mountain, mountaineering simply could not develop. Gwatela volcanoes provide excellent conditions for mountain travel, and if you take into account their activity, the climbing on local mountains will acquire a pronounced extreme character. Volcano Tahumulko (4200 m) – the highest volcano in Central America, but in spite of this, a variety of pretty light routes are laid on its slopes. A more serious climbing zone is Tolimon Vulcan Picks (3158 m). Relatively simple routes are laid on the slopes of the San Pedro volcano, to whose vertex can be climbed in just six hours. One of the most visited volcanoes of the country is Pasayia (2252 m) near the capital. Excursions to this constantly active volcano are allowed only as part of a group and with an experienced guide. On the volcano Agua (or HunApa, 3776 m) can be spent the night in the crater, where there is a hut for 30 people. Caves Aktun-Kan, Hobcins, Lancong and La Candelaria – Main areas of speleology.
Windsurfing and fishing
Rio Dulce River, Lake Isabal and Atitlan are good for windsurfing. Rafting Rivers Guatemala, including El Cahabin, El Chikuibul, El Motagua, La Pasyin and El Usamakinta are ideal for alloy. On Isabal, El Peten, Rio Dulce and Rivers of Alta Verapas are preserved excellent conditions for fishing, and the Pacific coast is one of the best places in the world for sports fishing fish.
